Once again we find the Nth dimension under attack from the forces of Krool. But this time it's worse than ever.

The player controls Sou as he advances through linear stages, fighting enemies in his way. Sou is armed with a sword and can jump and duck as well. The game has beat-em-up elements in that it only allows the player character to advance to the next segment of the area if all the enemies have been defeated. Ranged weapons come in limited quantities and must be picked up in the stages. Most of the enemies in the game are cyborgs, robots, and machines.

The goal of Zyll is to search out and find the Black Orb, which the evil sorcerer Zyll used to destroy the primary character's homeland. During the course of the game, various monsters would appear to do battle. Players could choose the role of a warrior, thief, or wizard. Each role has different attributes, skills, and weaknesses.
