To play the game, the player must choose a rally car and compete in championships. The championship races are held in different locations, and the goal is to win them all.

The plot of the game is similar to a movie of the same name, that released in 1993. The player assumes the role of a cyborg police officer who challenges a big corporation, which is trying to tear down the American city of Detroit to build a new one called Delta city. Robocop must prevent the citizens of Detroit from being driven out of their city.

To play the game, the player needs to use a freight train to find parts of a prototype car. The car has been dismantled into six parts and hidden across different levels. Apart from finding the hidden parts of the car, the train also needs to cross several obstacles and enemies.

The player or players are up against three computer-generated opponents. The cars are all in vibrant colours, although a player cannot choose their car themselves. However, the player can choose the number of laps for each race. The options are three, six, and nine laps. The game provides a behind view.
