Description
Across the USA was released as an edutainment game to make learning American Geography fun for kids.
A simple, user-friendly interface makes it easy for children to navigate. If you know your states and
capitals, it will turn out to be not at all challenging for you.
The game provides three separate stages: Abbreviations, States, and Capitals; Spell The State Name;
and Name The Capital. These options are indicated by pictures and the player can choose among them by
selecting the picture which describes the stage they want to play.
The first stage is the Abbreviations, States, and Capital, and it shows a political map
of the United States. Select a state on the map to reveal its abbreviated name, and try to guess what
the abbreviation stands for. Try to name its capital as well. The second stage is Spell The State Name.
Click on a state on the US map on the screen and try to guess its name. The last option, Name The Capital,
is quite literally what the name suggests. Click on a state and guess the capital.
Across the USA is a game tailored for kids below the age of ten and it does the job of keeping the child
busy with minimum supervision, while also educating them. The parent could also help the child with the
names and jog their own memory in the process! And if your states-and-capitals game is weak, why not try
it out too?
The game was released on DOS in 1991. It is still available to play with some tinkering, and should pose
no problems.
