If you are reading this first then good for you! This will
explain the installation process and also what to do if
installation does not work properly. Place your first disk
in the appropriate drive and type INSTALL. This will bring
up the Spungulas Software installation screen giving you the
option to select a hard drive to install to. C through I
are valid drive letters. Please type the correct hard drive
letter because you cannot predict what may happen if you do
not. After you have typed the appropriate drive letter, the
`install' program will show you what directories will be made
and will give you the option to continue or abort. Once you
continue, those directories will be made and the installation
process will begin. After installation, pay attention to
what directory you need to switch to in order to play and also
what filename to type in order to start the game. We try to
take every precaution to come up with unique directory names
that will not interfere with anything else but, should you
happen to have a directory by the same name then you should
follow closely the instructions below:
Make a directory on your hard drive giving it a name of your
choice, (like SPACE or something else unique). Do this by
typing MD SPACE then switch to that directory by typing
CD SPACE then make a directory inside SPACE called DATA
Note that the inner directory has to be called DATA or the
game will not function correctly. Now, switch back to the
root directory by typing CD\ Go to the drive that has
Disk one in it and copy the file ASTRO1.EXE to the SPACE
directory, (or whatever you called your directory). Now
put your second disk in your drive and copy ASTRO2.EXE and
ASTRO3.EXE to the DATA directory. Now switch back to your
hard drive, switch to your named directory and type ASTRO1
these are self extracting files. Switch to the DATA directory
and do the same, (type: ASTRO2 and ASTRO3 respectively).
Type: ASTRO to begin gameplay.

For a visual on weapons & Items, type: WEAPONS at the prompt.
Your first available weapon is the stinger which is
normally a cattle prodding gun used in the Saktorian sector of
Quintarn. Its use, (as you may have guessed), is for moving
herds of cattle out and back from the barns. It throws a mild
charge of electricity on the first shot which, increases with
each shot thereafter. Therefore, (as many who played the DEMO
found out), it takes several shots to take down the Norbian
guards in the holding perimeter. Later guards, depending on
who they are, (ie, strengths, weaknesses), can be killed much
easier with the stinger. It's just something you've always
used because it worked. With the Norb however, you will need
to pack more of a punch but, it does help you get out of some
tight spots. Your next weapon is the Neutron grenade. This
baby packs a wallop on all enemies, no matter who. This can
be a handy weapon for bouncing off walls and around corners
when you want to kill off a guard before heading into a room,
or just a head on throw. The longer you hold down the Ctrl
key, the farther it will go, (to a certain extent of course).
If you happen to figure out that the small windowless silver
building can have its walls blown out by throwing a neutron
grenade at it, you will find the radio controlled bombs.
These are detonated by pressing the b key. Once you get to
Gatainos, you will find the Flame gun and the Scatter rifle,
along with a radar device, (good for seeing your level from
above), more neutrons and bombs. The scatter rifle is good
for medium distances and packs a good wallop. The flame gun
is good for closer encounters and packs an even better wallop.
Also, in one of the buildings in Gatainos are mines. These
are placed wherever you want an enemy to walk into them and
when they do, kablam! Later on after the sewer you will
encounter the LR Eliminator. It has long range power packed
ability with an invisible trail. You have to be sure you
aim it right or you can miss the enemy. Hit the enemy and
it's over in one shot. When you reach Orxan you will find a
jetpack in one of the buildings. It does what you would
expect except, in order to disable it, you must remove it,
so much for high technology. Somewhere, (I'm not telling),
in the game is a communicator. Once you find it, you should
always carry it with you. The Verdosian chief will contact
you periodically with important information. If you aren't
carrying it, you won't be contacted. Controller cards play
an important role in the game. When you find one, carry it
with you because sometimes it opens more than one door.
Switches and hollowalls exist and play an integral part in
the game. If you don't use a switch somewhere or, don't
find a hollowall then you're probably missing a needed item.
One more thing. Two times in the game you are given the
power to be invincible. Once by a temporary radar shield
the Verdosians conjure up and again by a bottle of Kataar that
you find. (I'm not telling where).
4.
At the end of the universe, far beyond human imagination
exists the galaxy of Quintarn. Races of all sorts have existed
together in harmony for centuries. Some races have kept to
themselves, while still others have carried on trading and
bartering throughout the universe. One race amongst all others
has been known for its peaceful nature and generousity, the
race called Verdosian. This race has always inhabited the
planet of Orbixin. Long ago they were chosen as the ones to
form a government to help all others in the galaxy. Another
race known as Norb were always quiet, strong individuals who
kept to themselves. All other races began avoiding them long
ago because of their inhospitable manner. Since they always
did keep to themselves, nobody suspected anything of them.
Little did anyone realize that the Norb were developing
weapons and power in an attempt to takeover Orbixin and form
a new rule. This is where you, Rip Croc, reptilian bounty
hunter who soars the galaxies searching for easy jobs that
pay big bucks bucks, come into play.....
Normally, all you've ever used are your neutrons and
your stinger because all your money is spent on riotous living
and fast reptilian babes. Your home is your ship and your
life is fast paced. On a binge one night in the Vectar sector
of Quintarn, you are called on your ships communicator by the
Verdosian chief. He quickly tells you of an invasion of Norb
from Sandar. They take over the planet of Orbixin swiftly and
take hostages to a nearby asteroid. The planet is quickly
converted into a headquarters for the Norb and their judge.
The chief promises an amount of money so large that despite
your fear of the Norb, you agree. You look at the veluptuous
reptilian babe you are holding and say, Keep that tail warm baby,
I'll be back in two shakes of a snagfroos gallast. You reach
the sector and attempt contact with the chief but are cut off
by interference. You sit and watch the planet because your radar
detects a shield around the planet of Orbixin. Suddenly, three
Norbian fighter craft zoom into view. They signal the planet
and head for the surface. "Now's the time", you decide. While
the shield is down for the craft, you follow them in to the
holding perimeter. You land as quietly as possible and throw
your weapons onto the ground. You take a deep breath and climb
out of your ship....

If you're reading this then you're a cheater!
Oh well, anyhow there is only one cheat code for this
game. Press the combination ALT G during gameplay
this will make you invincible. Always save often in
this game! You never know when you might get picked
up by the Norb and taken to Paldotos. Although there
is one way out of Paldotos. You'd better be sure you
have enough ammo and turtles to do it!

We are constantly working on other games. Some get
set aside for awhile, others get finished. A complete
listing of available games is in the file `ORDER.TXT'
Which also includes a small bit of info on the upcoming
sequel to ASTROREPTILIO. (yes we like to do sequels).
