Description
AT THE CARNIVAL is a puzzle game with a carnival theme. It was released in 1989 on DOS and Macintosh platforms and was published by Miles Computing Inc.
At the Carnival is the first and only game from the ‘Puzzle gallery’ series. The game is heavily inspired from ‘the Fool’s errand’ which was designed by the
same developer.
The games are played inside a hypothetical amusement park called Hazard park. The player is first greeted by a rather scary looking clown who sets the
premise of mind-boggling puzzles in the form of word searches, crosswords, jigsaw puzzles, jumbles, codes, polygons, concatenations, mazes, block puzzles
and more. Each puzzle occurs in a different part of Hazard Park and showcases one of it’s prime attractions. The game offers 40 attractions and a total of
180 puzzles. The puzzles are entertaining and fun with a few surprises lurking in the background. The player needs to solve each of these puzzles to progress
to the next level, however, the fate of the victor is not pleasant by any means. The player is subjected to a scary ride or a similar unfortunate fate after
completing the puzzles of a section. The game stays true to its carnival theme using colourful graphics and interesting characters. The difficulty level is
medium, with no added challenges at the end of each level. The endgame puzzle is a crossword puzzle, using elements from the previously solved puzzles.
It is a single player game that can be played using the keyboard or mouse.
