Description
AUTOCRASH is a racing game set in Sci-Fi and futuristic themes. The game was released in 1991 on DOS, Amstrad CPC, and ZX spectrum. It was published and
developed by Zigurat Software S.L.
Autocrash is a lot different from other racing games like Formula1 racing, as there are no rules. The race is among scary-looking alien figures with
extremely violent tendencies. The racers compete in a death race where the sole goal is to hit the opponent’s car, have them thrown out of the vehicle,
and crush them under the car wheels. Points are earned for each enemy eliminated. The game starts with a monochrome picture which quickly colors itself in.
In the next screen, there is a quirky figure that appears on the black background and the game is paused until the player hits the spacebar.
The game can be played with a keyboard, joystick, or mouse. The game starts with the player driving a Dodgem car. When a driver dies, a new driver starts driving
the empty cars. There is also a computer-controlled driver. If the computer car hits the player from behind, the player's driver is catapulted into the air.
If the computer car scores a particularly good strike, it cheers itself by pausing the game for a few seconds. Once the player is knocked out of their car,
they need to walk from the edge of the track towards the car to take their place in it but must be careful to avoid approaching cars that might want to crush
the new driver before they make it to the vehicle.
