Description
Automon, also known as Automon3 is a computerized monopoly game with a slight variation. The game was released in 1990 on the DOS platform.
Automon can be played by up to 8 players. The rules of the game are mostly similar to the board game Monopoly, with a few added features.
These added features allow the time and speed of the game can be pre-set, and the game can be paused at any moment to be restarted later.
New players can be introduced in the game at any moment and the order can be changed. Players can also be dropped from the game quite as easily.
The game starts with the players' names being entered. This option can be accessed at any time via the menu to change the names mid-game.
The game is managed via a custom menu structure that does not obscure the board. Any key can be pressed to roll the dice and the pieces move
automatically across the board. If the player lands on a property that is unoccupied, they get the option to purchase it for a sum of money.
If the player lands on an opponent’s property, the former needs to pay rent to the opponent. When a particular player is playing against the
computer, an * appears against their name. Two or more players can play automatically against the computer. In the manual mode, the player presses
a key to roll the dice and another to stop them. There is a menu of the companion program that allows the game details to be edited.
The companion program can be used to edit any or all of the property deeds allowing the player(s) to create their own local versions of the game.
Properties can be mortgaged and 'unmortgaged' via menu options.
