Description
Blow up is an action game by Eurosoft. It was launched in 1987 for DOS and MSX platforms. The arcade game is played with a direct control interface
and side-view perspective. The game features puzzle elements and accounts strategies and tactics to play.
Blow up is a clone of Boulderdash, and involves similar dig-the-path gameplay. Moreover, the game features additional elements such as jigsaw puzzles
and diggers for enhanced fun.
In the game, the player plays the character of Joe Kowalski. Joe has to make his way to the exit passage via six increasingly challenging cavers.
The maximum time duration allotted to complete each cavern is five minutes. Moreover, he has only five lives and a restricted count of special objects
to help him pass the challenging spots.
Along his passage, the player encounters numerous enemies. He runs into grabbers who will jump on him and decrease his speed. He meets his enemy Darth Vader,
who moves briskly and can shoot the player. There are walking grenades that explode when the player comes near them.
Also, there are green viruses that spread rapidly when they get unleashed. The virus can infect the player upon contact. As a result, the player will turn pale,
his energy will start draining, and his speed will decrease.
However, the player can fight back the enemies and obstacles by dropping or hitting them with rocks. Also, the player can shoot them or blow the walls and enemies.
Most of the levels are almost similar. Nonetheless, the difficulty level increases as the player progress in the game.
