Description
Cannonade is a puzzle game that runs on the DOS platform. Developed by Abacus and released in 1993, the game can be played
in real-time which gives it a slight edge over other puzzle games of the time.
To play the game, The player must guide a cannonball across a maze into the exit hole. The player controls the ball by
shooting at it through a cannon that can be moved across the playing field. The player can also shoot at other objects in
the field to move them out of the way of the ball. Colliding with an obstacle will cause the ball to bounce back in the
direction where it came from. In Cannonade, The major challenge for the player is maneuvering the cannonball easily
amidst the variety of objects laid across the maze. Collision with any of these objects can cause the ball to change
its course making it difficult for the player to steer it back on the right track. In many cases, it is impossible to
avoid collision and hence, these objects must be moved and rearranged carefully to make way for the ball. Some of these
objects are breakable and would disintegrate after a few collisions, while a few others are strong enough to resist a
cannon fire. The colored objects can be combined into groups of the same color, causing them to disintegrate. Some of
these objects have special properties and can even help the player in reaching their goal. These include abilities such
as holding the ball in place, changing its direction, or teleporting it to a different location. However, few also
possess the ability to destroy the ball altogether which would end the game. The game can be saved with a password to be
resumed later.
