Description
Captain Kang is an Action game, released in 1993 in South Korea. It is a single-player game that runs on the DOS platform.
All characters in the game are animals depicting human behavior, who live in an advanced city with skyscrapers and futuristic
vehicles. The city is governed by the Commissioner, an elderly cat in a uniform. However, the city is now under threat from
a group of monsters who intend to destroy the city. A special agent Kangaroo called Captain Kang is deployed on a mission to
defeat these monsters and safeguard the residents. Apart from his savvy personality, Captain Kang is in possession of a highly
efficient laser gun which he can shoot in two directions. For navigation, Captain Kang can walk, duck, and high jump in true
Kangaroo fashion. Apart from killing monsters with his laser gun, Captain Kang needs to collect giant pills and other items
laid out throughout the stages of the game. The power-ups can replenish Kang’s lost energy, as depicted by a bar at the
bottom of the screen. The nature of the items changes at each level and offers a myriad of benefits such as temporary immunity
against attack from the enemies, additional weapons, and different means of transportation. There are many stages in the game
which are quite extensive. Each stage offers a different background and landscape and a varied number of enemies of different
shapes and sizes. Some of the monsters are tiny and can effectively camouflage themselves as trees while the others are bigger
and stronger. Some of them can also fly. Points are awarded for killing the monsters and completing each stage.
