Description
Follow the purple smiley face and find a way to catch it in this cat and mouse game. CHASE is a maze-like
Pac man style game that keeps players engaged with the thrill of the chase. Where is it going to go next?
How is it going to maneuver? All these questions race through your mind as you try to corner the elusive
purple smiley face, which taunts you every time.
A chase won’t be fun if the prey was easy to catch. This purple smiley is a smart one.
It knows your weakness so it finds a way to wedge itself between the red Smiley’s trying to hunt you down,
and who you must avoid at all cost. Sometimes it also stays close to instant kill white things, simply
called Death!, who are deadly to you. But you have a few tricks up your sleeve as well. Even though you can
only move twice in any direction, you can move towards the food, extra lives, and ammunition littered all
through the maze. These give you a boost and a fairer chance to catch the purple smiley.
CHASE features a 2d Pacman-style view on a screen where everything is visible. The highly colorful setting
and the pixelated graphics make it somewhat hard to stay focused on detecting the whereabouts of the purple
smiley. As confusing as the labyrinth may be, you can still find some space to maneuver and get out of a
pinch. The bottom of the screen shows the health bar and the score sheet. Each stage takes on a different
look sporting more resplendent colors and complex mazes.
Chase doesn’t demand much from players, other than for them to just use all the tools at their disposal to
catch the purple smiley. This 1990 arcade game was created by Wizard Inc. and it’s available on DOS.
