Description
While many of us reminisce about the massively popular ones like the Super Mario Brothers or the Arcade, there are
a few lesser-known retro games that, perhaps couldn't gain as much popularity, but were brilliant nonetheless.
One such vintage PC game is Chess Housers. Released in 1993 in Spain, This is a puzzle game with a chess theme.
Developed by Diabolic soft and published by Digital dreams multimedia, this game is an absolute delight for all chess
lovers, which also has the charm of an old-fashioned puzzle game.
In this game, the user guides a phantom glove through a maze with a checkboard pattern with chess pieces placed on them.
The player has to push the glove through the maze using the arrow keys and space bar and clear its way to the exit.
The movement of the pieces on the chessboard follows the same pattern like an actual game of chess; Pawns move straight
ahead, Horses move in an L- shape, and so on. If the glove is not moved out from the path of the chess pieces, it will
be killed. The chess pieces are arranged in a pattern in small rooms to form a series of puzzles that must be solved
for the glove to move ahead. Apart from the traditional chess pieces, there are a few other objects in the rooms which
have their own unique functionality such as Boulders that need to be smashed, Transparent boxes that can be destroyed
by the Glove if they are on the way, and Pyramid teleporters, which can transport the glove from one part of the maze
to the other.
