Description
Crossfire is an action video game with a Sci-Fi and Futuristic theme. The game is available on DOS, Commodore 64, and few other platforms. It was developed and published by
Sierra On-Line, Inc. The player takes control of a spaceship and needs to defend their city from an alien attack. The spacecraft is equipped with high-power artillery and
ammunition that enables shooting in four directions simultaneously. As the enemies draw closer, they intensify their attack by continuously shooting from all directions.
The player needs to move swiftly and kill as many of the alien beats as possible. When the aliens plan to barricade the city, the player needs to foil the plan by barging
in and out of the direct line of fire, taking down enemies each time. The level comes to an end when the aliens have been completely wiped out. The player then moves on to
the next level to face a new wave of attack. Reinforcements are available from time to time and the player needs to restock every time or face the risk of running out of
ammunition. Bonus points are available in the form of crystals laid out throughout the game. Each of these crystals can give the player’s scoreboard a significant boost.
The player gets three ships at the start of the game, however, for every 5,000 points, they get a brand new one. The game can be controlled using the keyboard or the joystick.
Despite the simple gameplay and limited graphics, Cross Fire is an entertaining game and a hit among fans of the genre.
