Description
Cruel World is an Action and Adventure game with puzzle elements. It was released in 1995 in Israel and runs on the DOS platform. Developed and published by Israeli
developers Makh-Shevet Ltd., Cruel World draws inspiration from the classic ‘Prince of Persia’. It is a single-player game.
The protagonist of the game is an innocent citizen who lives in his humble cottage by the river. However, his blissful life is rudely interrupted when he is suddenly
thrown into the dungeon, with no explanation. The player must help the protagonist escape from prison, safe and secure. There are several enemies the player needs to
fight off to escape, such as skeleton guards and other dangerous creatures that lurk in the shadows. Finding a way out of the dungeon is a challenge with several twists
and turns, and traps laid out at every corner. The player might also need to move to different levels with the help of an elevator.
Red potion flasks at the bottom left corner indicate the health of the protagonist and the enemies. The player needs to walk, run, jump, and hop to be able to escape the
many dangers in the dungeons. There are also small puzzles to solve to be able to progress in the game. There are also many hand-to-hand combat sequences where the player
needs to possess quick reflexes in order to display strong fighting skills. Despite the strong resemblance to Prince of Persia, the game falls short in gameplay and design
but is a fun game, nonetheless.
