Description
Despair 3 is the third installment of the series Despair. It was released in 1995 on the DOS platform. The game was created
and developed by U-neek software and is built using the Pie in the Sky 3D game engine. In Despair 3, the player is tasked
with destroying a wind machine that can potentially blow away the earth. A classic shooter game like the first two games
of the series, Despair 3 has various levels and features a variety of enemies and weapons. The player must navigate the
different levels on limited ammo and supplies, kill enemies, and overcome obstacles before finally destroying the wind
machine. Effective resource management is essential and one must carefully survey all areas of the gaming environment for
hidden doors, clues, health packs, key items, or additional supplies. The game is set in a 3D environment and the player
gets a first-person perspective. Points are awarded for killing enemies, but to do so one must carefully observe enemy
behavior and recognize attack patterns. The gameplay and mechanics are similar to its predecessors and can be played using
a keyboard or mouse. Arrow keys must be used to move the character in the gaming environment, while designated keys are
assigned for specific functions like opening doors or firing at enemies. The controls are explained at the start of the game.
Background music and sound effects are similar to the first two games of the series and have very little variety, however,
they still manage to create an immersive environment.
