Desperabis is a fantasy role-playing game released in 2000. It runs on the DOS platform. The game is set in the medieval
times and has a dungeon-crawling theme. The player assumes the role of a medieval scholar, Kiarthan who embarks on a quest
to find a crystal ball. This crystal ball is the only thing that can save the life of his beloved and Kiarthan will need to
overcome several hurdles to acquire it. The ball is hidden in a castle guarded by powerful sorcery. To enter the inner
chambers of the castle, the player must survive the dungeon and solve several puzzles, navigate hidden chambers and at
times engage in combat. Collecting key items and solving puzzles is an essential part of the game and one must carefully
scan the area to find objects hidden in plain sight. the player must also keep an eye out for health packs and potions that
can greatly improve the health or prolong the life. The game is set in a 3D environment and the player gets a first-person
perspective. The first part of the game focuses mainly on the navigational aspects while the second part mostly features
combat. There are a variety of enemies and one might need to employ special tactics to defeat them.
The game can be played using the keyboard. Arrow keys are used to move the character around in the gaming field while other
designated keys are assigned for specific functions. Desperabis is a popular title among the fans of the genre and can be
considered an above-average fantasy title of the era.
