Description
Diamond Digger is an arcade-style puzzle game released in 1986. It runs on the DOS platform. The player must traverse
an underground diamond mine, collecting diamonds and avoiding the various obstacles and barriers. The game has multiple
levels, each with a different layout and challenges. The difficulty level increases as the player progresses through
the game. The key challenge comes in the form of a blood-thirsty ghost that haunts the mine and kills anyone who comes in
contact with it. The graphics are designed to create an eerie atmosphere, perfectly aligning with the ghostly theme of the
game. While navigating through rocks and dirt, the player must be careful in avoiding the ghost. Points are awarded for
each diamond collected. Bonus points are sometimes awarded for collecting all the diamonds or completing a level early.
The player must plan their route carefully to collect the maximum number of diamonds without getting trapped.
The player can dig tunnels as an alternative route but that can greatly slow down their movement. The rocks and other
obstacles can sometimes come in handy by helping to block out the enemies or creating a newer and safer path. Apart from
collecting diamonds, the player will also need to collect the key to advance to the next level. Like most games of the era,
the levels need to be completed at one go. Diamond Digger can be played using the keyboard or joystick. Diamond Digger is
alternatively known as Gold Miner and Raiders of the Forbidden Mine.
