Description
Dig-Dogs: Streetbusters is an educational game directed towards kids that imparts basic driving and road safety education.
The game was released in Germany in 1994 and runs on the DOS platform. The player must drive a car from one place to another
following German traffic rules and carefully avoid collisions with other cars, roadblocks, etc. The player is tasked with driving
the car to a particular destination in the city within the stipulated time. They will need to choose the fastest route and also
economically configure the car. This stage of the game introduces the gamers to different parts of a vehicle and their role in
creating a smooth driving experience. Once the car is configured and the route selected, the player sets off on their journey,
and must strictly adhere to all traffic rules like mandatory wait at crosswalks or staying below the speed limit in certain areas.
On their journey, the player will encounter three dogs from time to time who provide useful information and tips on road safety
and traffic regulations. There are also small puzzles and mini-games along the way, which get activated every time a rule is broken
or there is a mechanical failure in the car. The game offers a three-dimensional view on a two-dimensional screen.
The graphics are bright and cartoony instantly appealing to the kids. Overall, Dig-Dogs: Streetbusters can be considered an
above-average edutainment title that instills the importance of safe driving and adherence to traffic rules into kids from an
early age. It is a single-player game and can be controlled using the keyboard or mouse.
