PC-SIG was the first mail order shareware disk vendor and one of the biggest shareware distributors in the 1980s. PC-SIG was founded in 1984 by Richard Peterson and soon evolved, creating a network of international dealers and greatly promoting the idea of shareware worldwide. Its "Shareware Magazine" eventually became a bi-monthly sold at newsstands. However, in 1992 or 1993, PC-SIG went out of business unexpectedly and without explanation.

Description

Disk Crash is an arcade-style action game that was released in 1985. It runs on the DOS platform and can be controlled using the keyboard. The protagonist of the game is a floppy disk that needs to be transported from one side to the other in a grid-like gaming board. When the floppy has been transported from the left side of the screen to the right, it jumps one level and then needs to be transported back to the other side. The floppy can only cross one level at a time. The obstacles arise in the form of bouncing horseshoe magnets moving around in the gaming field. A collision with these magnets would result in data corruption in the floppy disk and it would be rendered useless. Therefore, The player must guide the floppy to the destination avoiding collision with the magnets. The moves will need to be perfectly timed and executed to achieve the desired goal. As the levels progress, the magnets will become quicker in their movements making it more challenging for the player to avoid collisions with them. The player gets three lives after which, the game will restart. Scores, levels, and lives are displayed on the right-hand side of the screen. The controls are explained at the start of the game and are quite simple. The background colors change with each level, but the colors of the disk and the horseshoe remain constant, with the disk always green and the horseshoe always red. Disk crash reflects the simplicity and creativity of early video games, focusing on straightforward but engaging gameplay mechanics.
