Description
Dot Valley is an adventure game with puzzle elements that was released in 1992. It runs on the DOS platform and can be controlled
using the keyboard. The theme is inspired heavily by the popular game of the same genre, Boulder Dash. The player assumes the role
of an underground miner tasked with retrieving diamonds from the earth. The diamonds available to be collected are denoted with a
black background. One should steer clear of any diamond that does not have a black background since it could be a trap.
The player must dig into the ground, carefully avoiding obstacles to get to the diamonds. However, there are several challenges
that make the task more challenging than it sounds. There are several dangers lurking below the surface like monsters or hidden
traps. Dropping boulders can pose a threat if mining is done underneath or too close to their location.
The player must collect all the diamonds in the present level to progress to the next one. At each level, new obstacles are
introduced which could require more time and strategic planning to overcome. The obstacles could sometimes even be used to the
player's advantage, like the diamond-eating monsters or the lava stream that can destroy the diamonds. However, these moves can
only help the player to advance to the next level. No points can be earned from them. In the advanced levels, apart from collecting
diamonds, the player will also need to block the supply of new diamonds in the gaming field. Dynamite is available in limited
supply for destroying obstacles.
