Description
Drag Race Eliminator is a racing game published by Family Software and was released in 1986. It can be played by up to two players
at a time and is available on the DOS and Commodore 64 platforms. The gameplay is simple, the player needs to win races against
another player or a computer-generated opponent. The players get to pick from one of the five racing cars based on the type of
gear the car has. The cars can have 2, 3, or 4 gears. The racetrack has a start and finish line. To win the race, the player
needs to cross the finish line. A green light is flashed on the screen signifying the start of the race. Any car starting before
the flashing of the green light will be eliminated from the race. During the race, the players must display precise control
of acceleration and gear shifting to achieve the best performance. To win, they must possess a combination of quick reflexes,
an understanding of car mechanics, and strategic tuning. The graphics of the game are simple, featuring 2D sprites and basic
animations. The late 80s saw a variety of racing games, with many focusing on different aspects of motorsports.
"Drag Race Eliminator" stood out by focusing specifically on drag racing, a niche within the racing genre. The game features a
high scores table, where real drag racing records are displayed. The player can get their name displayed on the table if they
manage to beat these records. The game can be controlled using the keyboard and joystick.
