Enchanter

Enchanter is a adventure series that is entirely played in the form of text. The game is set in a universe named Zork, based on the original trilogy of Zork. This world has been captured by Krill, the evil warlock and is facing dark times. Belboz, the leader of “The Circle”, a group of Enchanters gathers his followers and makes a prophecy. He declares that to prevent the lessening of the powers and prevent the strange disappearances from happening they need to send an enchanter who is untrained on the mission to save the world. This is required because if they send a powerful sorcerer, Krill would be alerted of the power that was approaching to defeat him. So instead he assigns you, his ignorant Apprentice with the task of saving the world from Krill. Your skill level is very basic and as you go along your journey you get to learn more and more with time. Enchanter requires you to interact with the gaming environment by typing commands in the form of objects and verbs. You also have the ability to perform a spell as a verb on the object specified. You need to memorize the spells to be cast. They will be learned by you along the way. This game unlike the games in Zork series allows you to read through a magical textbook which gives you information on the spells you can cast.
