FRANKENSTEIN
"Hur!, Hur!, Hur! Yes, Master..."
Egor - Half man... Half creature... All idiot.
It's hard to find good help these days. Take Egor: faithful
manservant to the eccentric Baron Frankenstein. Brave, handsome,
intelligent - just a few things he longs to be. But with the Baron
absorbed in his ultimate creation, someone has to bring in the body parts...
With qualifications in total stupidity and basic incompetence, would you
trust Egor with a delicate scientific experiment? Everybody needs some body,
so get some head and play Frankenstein.
GETTING STARTED
Frankenstein requires a '386SX or greater processor with a minimum of 580k
free conventional memory. Additionally, the 3.5" floppy version requires
7.5 megabytes of free hard disk space.
PLAYING THE GAME
Baron Frankenstein stands upon the threshold of an historic breakthrough:
to create life itself! But in order for his experiments to continue, he
needs raw materials... This is where Egor, the village hunchback comes in:
it is his task to assist the Baron by collecting the various parts of the
monster, scattered around here and there.
The Baron will reward Egor well for every piece he recovers, but the Baron
is not a man to be trifled with, and his patience may wear thin if Egor
returns empty handed...
During his quest, Egor's travels will take him to four very different areas:
THE CASTLE - Home to the insane Baron, plus a number of other denizens,
including giant spiders, mutant eyeballs, and castle guards.
THE DUNGEON - Deep beneath the Castle von Frankenstein lies the dungeon, home
to insane axemen, giant snails and slime monsters.
THE VILLAGE - The villagers are outraged by the Baron's actions. Egor must
avoid man-eating toads, irate locals, and cackling witches.
THE GRAVEYARD - The graveyard is haunted by all manner of evil, including
killer coffins, vampire bats, and vicars.
Egor may carry two pieces of the Moster at any one time. To collect a body
part, Egor simply walks over it. Once Egor has two pieces, he must return to
the Castle and give the parts to the Baron.
THE FRIGHTOMETER
Egor begins his quest in a calm frame of mind, but contact with any of the
evil creatures in the game will cause his level of fear to rise.
If Egor should scare himself to death, he reaches a blind state of panic and
drops whatever he was carrying while letting out a scream to reduce his level
of fear. If this happens, Egor loses one of his lives.
The only friend Egor has in the village wench. If he meets the lady on his
travels, she soothes his fevered brow and reduces his level of fear to zero.
