Blue Sphere
Blue Sphere (France) was a French development company active between 1993 and 2001. Members of the development team appear to have worked together at Microïds prior to starting the company. Four games are known to have been created by this studio: In Extremis (1993), GT Racing 97 (1997), Taxi 2 (2000) and La Vallée Des Rois (2001). Around 2000 the company had another racing game in development, Mad Racers, but it does not appear to have been released.
In 2000 Blue Sphere started developing Java games for the internet with releases such as Wing War, Dory, Survivor 2100, Dames and Solitaire. The company's website was last updated in November 2001 and eventually vanished in 2005.

Description
GT RACING 97, also known as GT Racing Velocidade Total, was released in 1997 on the DOS platform.
It belongs to the Racing genre of video games, and is immensely popular to this date, among the fans of this genre.
It was developed by a French gaming company, Blue Sphere, and was published by Ocean Software Ltd.
The game was released in three countries, France, Germany, and United Kingdom in the same year. GT Racing 97's
superior sound and graphics are what makes it popular among retrogamers. It is a single-player game.
To play the game, the player needs to first participate in a championship or take a practice session.
Initially, only two tracks are available for a practice session while all other tracks are locked.
The player needs to compete in one of the championships to unlock the other tracks. The Championships include
several races, spread over many countries. The game simulation is made to duplicate the road conditions and
asphalt settings of the particular country the race is being held in. There are also different themes like Winter,
dry land, forests, etc. The racing style imitates an arcade-style of racing, where the player can choose to view
the surroundings from inside or outside the car. The game has a selection of majorly two cars, The Hurricane and
the Predator, each offering different sets of features. Both have their own strengths and weaknesses.
The computer opponents are quite competitive which makes the game reasonably challenging. GT Racing 97 also offers
considerably superior graphics, detailed courses, and decent car physics, which almost remind the player of the
original version of Need for Speed.
