Description
Developed in 1992 by UK house visionaires, Gnome Alone is a strategy and action game. This top-down game
was originally released on the Amiga home PC, but is also available in the DOS environment.
In this game, the player assumes the role of a lonely Gnome who owns a garden and a greenhouse.
However, much to his annoyance, his flowers attract pests and other Gnomes who constantly try to steal them away.
The premise of the game is that The Gnome was caught and sentenced to hard labor for trying to steal from
the Gnome King's prized garden. The Gnome's only escape from his predicament is to maintain a garden perfectly.
The Gnome needs to not only plant the flowers and then protect them from pests like Snails, but also protect
himself from being stung by the pests too many times to avoid losing the game. But, what makes Gnome Alone
interesting is the Weather element that the player needs to take into account while tending to the flowers.
At the bottom of the screen, the player is shown the weather forecast for the next five days, according to which,
the player needs to change his game strategy. A sunny day would mean the plants need to be watered, while a rainy
day would mean an influx of snails. The temperature of the shed and greenhouse are also displayed at the bottom
right corner of the screen, which the player must monitor very closely. The Gnome's garden contains a shed that
houses garden tools, that are used for specific purposes. All of this happens under the watchful eye of the
Gnome king.
