Description
Developed in 1986 by Cybron Inc, Grand Slam Bridge is a PC Bridge game running published on DOS.
Grand slam bridge in many ways paved the way for the next generation of bridge games by setting high
standards in the genre of PC card games. The game provides multiple options and is fairly simple even
for those who are unfamiliar with the rules of Bridge. Grand Slam Bridge follows the rules of an actual
bridge game. The players can adjust bidding conventions like Weak two bid, cue bid, 4 card major,
5 card major, Gambling NT, Unusual NT, and Jacoby Transfer. The game has sufficient conventions to keep
the player interested. The multiple options allow the player to change the tabletop or rotate the table,
set hands visibility, etc. A player can also choose a computer or a human player to play each hand.
For a player who wants to focus solely on their bidding, they can allow the computer to play out each hand,
making the process much quicker. The game also allows giving certain cards to certain hands as per
the player's preference.
Grand Slam Bridge was released in the United States and the game language is English. It is purely
an ASCII based game. The game doesn't offer a tutorial but is not hard to follow after a couple of games.
Grand slam bridge was undoubtedly one of the superior bridge games of the time, and its popularity led
to the sequel, Grand Slam Bridge II which has slightly better graphics and AI.
