Description
Guldkorn Expressen is an action game that was released in 1991 as a promotion for OTA's honey puff cereal.
The game was developed by SilverRock productions and released on Amiga, DOS, and Commodore 64 platforms.
The game was released in Denmark, and the game language is Danish, however, it's not very difficult to follow
after a few trials. At first look, the game looks like it is designed for kids, but on the contrary, it throws
just the right amount of challenges to make the game interesting for people of all age groups.
The main protagonist in the game is the brand's mascot, a small cartoon bear who drives a train loaded with
honey puffs. He is tasked with driving the train through each level, picking up the boxes of cereal, adding honey
to them, and ultimately driving to the end of the level within the time limit. However, the game throws several
challenges in his way. The train needs to switch tracks several times to pick up the bags of cereal that are laid
off the default path. The speed of the train must also be properly maintained to avoid collision with rocks and
fallen trees on the train tracks. The bear sometimes also needs to jump out of the train and manually dig out
the dirt from the tracks. However, Puff the bear has a honeybee friend to help him along the journey, who can be
activated by pressing the joystick button or the spacebar on the keyboard. The honeybee activates the switches and
operates the honey tap. Puff also has a few other tricks that help him overcome the obstacles, like throwing dynamite
at rocks or jumping over fallen trees.
