Description
Harrier 7 is an action and adventure game developed by Tiger Developments Ltd. and released in 1989. The game is also known as Operation Hormuz. It runs on DOS, Amstrad CPC,
and Commodore 64 platforms.
The game is set on the Persian Gulf, in the straits of Hormuz. The area is under attack from enemies who have captured all the key military bases. The motive is cutting off
the major oil supplies and thus causing a major crisis in the free world. To overcome the situation, Lieutenant McDonnell Douglas is deployed to the area. Douglas arrives on
the scene on the legendary Harrier jet to take control of the situation. The player takes control of the aircraft to defeat the enemy forces. The opposition is in possession of
the equally formidable Mig-21 aircraft and gives the Harrier a tough fight. The player needs to shoot down as many of the enemy carriers as possible while safeguarding themself.
Apart from avoiding being shot down by the enemy, the player must also avoid accidents while take-off and landing. The player gets a first-person perspective from inside the
Harrier and must avoid getting hit by air-to-air missiles or crashing into the sea. Along with the Mig-21s, the player also needs to bomb ground turrets, naval turrets, and enemy
bases. However, one must also be careful to avoid shooting from the ground which could easily bring the aircraft down. Harrier 7 is a single-player game and can be played using
the joystick or the keyboard.
