Description
Helicopter Mission is an action video game that was released in Germany in 1994. The game was published by Bundeswehr, the armed forces of the Federal Republic of Germany as
promotional material.
The player gets to fly a helicopter and support rescue and relief missions in different parts of the world. The goal is to carry out a successful mission by accomplishing the
given task. There is no combat involved. There are different choices of helicopters at the start of every mission, each specialized for specific roles. The player is given a
short briefing at the start of the game after which they are on their own. The mission could include simply dropping off aid at the designated areas, rescuing civilians from
floods or accident sites, or dropping sandbags as a temporary fix for broken dikes or bridges. The mission can also include supporting coast guards or rescuing people from
sinking ships. The player gets to choose a copilot to assist in the mission. Mission 1 is the training mission where Points are scored for keeping the helicopter within a
square, marked on the ground. The longer the player can do this, the more points they can earn. The training mission also has trials on dropping parachutes and picking up
civilians. There is a weather forecast at the start of each mission which clears the helicopter for take-off. Points are earned after every successful mission. There are
surprise prizes for scoring landmark points. Helicopter pilot is a single-player game and can be played using the keyboard or the mouse.
