Description
Hexsider is a puzzle game with a futuristic theme. It was released in 1990 in France and runs on the DOS platform. Published by Ubisoft Entertainment SA, Hexsider is one of
the most complex puzzle games of all time.
Hexsider introduces a futuristic view of the world where humans have employed Robots to do all the difficult and labor-intensive work. However, the dependence and improvements
in the field of Artificial intelligence have led to a group of robots taking over the command center. This has posed the threat of a robot uprising which could lead to the
annihilation of humans. The task now falls upon a small group of six robots, called Hexsiders to invade the area ruled by hostile Robots and repair the central computer.
The major challenge for the Hexsiders is the security systems and radio surveillance units, still running at the control center. The Hexsiders are detachable stacks of hexagonal
modules with the capability of transferring control freely to other robots. The functionality of the robots is determined by the modules they are built of; hence some tinkering
is needed to get the robots to be able to perform specific tasks. For example, to be able to move from one place to another, the hexsider must have a roller module placed at the
bottom and to be able to transfer control, the Hexsider must have their central module intact which is the source of power. New types of modules are also available throughout
the game. The Hexsiders move through a maze-like space that has several restricted access doors, intricate defense systems, and laid traps. There are also small puzzles to solve.
