Description
Hide & Sink is a strategy game, developed and published by Mirror Images Software, Inc. The game was released in 1983 and runs on the DOS and Apple II platforms. Hide and sink
is also known as Battleship.
Hide & Sink is a single-player game where the player competes against a computer-generated opponent in naval warfare. Five ships of varied sizes are available to each side which
must be concealed from the opponent. The boats are marked by alphabets P, S, D, C, and B and placed on 10*10 grids. Each side takes turns in firing shots at the other side,
towards the grids occupied by the opponent’s ship. When all the grids are destroyed, the ship is sunk, and the respective side loses the battle. The enemy claims victory and
gains control of the area. The game offers three gaming modes; First is the classic mode where each side gets to fire one shot at every turn. The second is the Super-hide & Seek
mode where the opponents have a limited number of shots but have the option of a missile launch. The missile can be fired from a submarine or a patrol boat. Super-Salvo is the
advanced mode where the opponents can fire multiple shots at each turn and have the option of a missile launch. To make things more interesting, the game offers a night mode in
which the opponent’s ships are completely hidden from view until they are completely destroyed, thus keeping the player in the dark about the size and structure of the ship.
