Description
Hockey League Simulator II or HLS2 is a hockey simulation and management game. It was developed and published by Bethesda Softworks LLC in the United States. The game was released in 1992 and
runs on the DOS platform. It is the sequel to Hockey League Simulator released in 1990.
Hockey League Simulator II is an above-average sports simulation that offers the player a variety of options. The player acts as the manager who has the power to create and customize the league.
The manager also has the ability to hire or fire the head coach, thus choosing to coach the team themselves. They can also choose to manage the entire league. If not, the computer takes over the
management. Each team must pay salaries and keep a balanced budget. The manager has access to crucial information like upcoming schedules and salaries of players and management.
They can trade players and make changes to the team budget, take crucial decisions in terms of training the team, or handle PR campaigns. HLS2 includes an ‘injury prone’ option which lets the
player manage the number of injuries in a particular season. The gameplay is a lot similar to its predecessor, except, the player has a lot more power and can make more customizations.
A lot more data is available at the player’s disposal, making the decision-making process a lot easier and effective. The game results can be saved or printed out. Apart from HLS, HLS2 also
incorporates aspects from Wayne Gretzky Hockey 3, another popular hockey simulation.
