Mysterious Worlds

The story of this game follows exactly what its title suggests. Most of it is mysterious and strange.
You appear to be a soldier wearing a green vest and blue jeans, equipped with a gun. In this strange world, you find yourself amongst ogres, giants, and evil birds, all coming at you fast with the sole intention to kill. Your gun shoots bullets at a relatively fast pace with a sound that is reminiscent of wonky 80s graphics.
As you keep exploring, climbing ladders, jumping on moving platforms, striding over deep holes all while shooting or avoiding enemies, you come across grey gems which add to your score. The game, MYSTERIOUS WORLD, does not follow any sequence or a storyline, it is designed to gauge how long you'll last with all those enemies coming at you, and all the obstacles in the strange place you just happened upon.
It's much less about the mystery and more about your endurance and ability to survive. If you can navigate and somehow stay alive while collecting as many gems as possible, you are likely to top the leaderboard.
As soon as you die, which doesn't often take long in this game, a prompt comes up and asks you to type in your name so it can rank you against other players.
Although the graphics are moderately visible, they don't redeem much of this repetitive game either. The perspective is two-dimensional, and the terrain presents some level of detail to make players believe that, indeed, it is a mysterious world. Released in 1992, find MYSTERIOUS WORLDS on Dos and on other abandonware platforms.
