Description
Offroad is an arcade-style racing video game released in 1988. It was published and developed by Montsoft and ran on the DOS platform.
The player drives a truck across the desert, annihilating all enemies that stand in their way. The trucks can fire missiles and even jump to dodge enemies.
As the levels progress, the vehicle seems to assume a life of its own and can even shoot bombs at the enemies mid-jump. There are a total of 8 levels
in the game, with each level introducing a new challenge or obstacle. The enemies can be in the form of motorbikes, fast cars, fighter jets, bouncing squares,
helicopters, landmines, or even spaceships and alien figures. The van is equipped to dodge all attacks from these enemies, but it’s up to the player to deploy
the correct strategy at the right time. Enemies that move slower than the player’s van can be shot at to remove them from the track, while faster enemies need
to be dealt with by slowing down and jumping over them. Landmines need to be carefully avoided and the helicopters need to be outrun.
The goal of the game is simple, just outlive your enemies. Survival is of key importance and dodging the enemies for a sufficient amount of time will complete
the level. Level is complete when the words ""new level"" appears on the screen. The movement of the vehicle and the enemies is completely one-dimensional,
from left to right. Scores are awarded for each enemy destroyed and are displayed on the top of the screen, along with the level. A level is lost when the
truck gets blown up due to a collision with an enemy or an enemy missile.
