Oil Barons

Oil Barons is a game which attempts to provide an investment environment similar to that of the real business world. From one to four players are given an initial amount of cash and other assets. The length of the game is determined in years. Each year consists of two six-month periods per player. Most of the business conducted in oil barons deals with buying and selling oil and oil related assets. However, to provide diversified investment opportunities, you may also invest in several types of stock.
Each player must use judgement in allocating his cash to the assets available. Many factors influence the flow of the game, just as many factors affect the ups and downs of the real business world. Players may invest in research and development, attempt to influence governmental action by lobbying, spend money on environmental improvement... all of which can affect the outcome of the game.
