Oligopoly

Oligopoly is a strategy game inspired by the board game Monopoly. Developed by PC Design Associates, the game was released in 1991 in the United States. It runs on the DOS platform. Unlike Monopoly where you play with plots and houses, Oligopoly is about corporate organizations and industries.
The player assumes the role of a ruthless industrialist whose only goal is to get richer by taking over companies and establishing an empire. The game can be played by 2 to 6 players, all competing against one another to create a conglomerate of their own. There are 52 different companies featured in the game, all in different countries. The players need to travel around the world and try to acquire these companies with shrewd tactics. The game begins with 100 million dollars and can go up to several million dollars. The players are first gathered in a board room, where they are randomly allocated a country. The player then lands in the country and tries to acquire the company. If the company is available for purchase, the player can purchase it using the available funds. If the company is owned by someone, a bigger amount will need to be shelled out to acquire it as the buyer needs to earn the seller a profit.
Other than buying other companies, the player can also invest in their own companies, buy shares, sell companies, or make profitable deals with other players. A player can invest in companies of the same industry or a different industry. Acquiring three companies of the same industry in different areas will earn the player a vertical monopoly and thus give them a chance to increase their profits.
