Description
Oliver & Compagnie is an action video game released in 1989. The game derives its name from the Disney movie ‘Oliver and Company’ and is available on the DOS,
Atari ST, and Amiga platforms.
Oliver & Compagnie is a single-player game, where the player assumed the role of a cute little cat named Oliver. Once homeless, Oliver now leads a comfortable
life in his adopted home in New York, but things get complicated when an evil dog named Sykes tries to kidnap Oliver. To make matters worse, Skyes and Oliver
are under the care of the same owner- a gentle soul who doesn’t suspect a thing. Oliver needs to escape his kidnapper by outsmarting them every step of the way.
The player can make Oliver jump, hop, run, and climb buildings. The game can be controlled by the mouse and the keyboard. The action sequences occur in various
places like the streets of New York, Sykes’s gang home, a big mansion, etc. Points are earned by catching flying treats and collecting hot dogs on the street.
Oliver must also be careful to avoid other dangers of roaming the streets alone such as being knocked over by Skateboarders. The player needs to collect 1000
points to move to the next level. Scores are displayed on the right-hand bottom corner of the screen while the left corner depicts the time.
The graphics of the game is cartoonish, much like an animated Disney movie. The Atari ST version of the game offers five game languages- French, English, Italian,
Spanish, and German.
