Unlike many other soccer video games, 'On the Ball' focuses mostly on the strategies and behind-the-scenes aspects of the game of soccer.
The player assumes the role of a team manager and takes many crucial decisions pertaining to the team. These decisions include Choosing the host country for
the team to play in, deploying the correct PR strategies to better the image of the team, giving pep talks to the team to motivate them, etc.
The team manager also allocates the budget of the team and works on bringing the maximum crowd into the stadium. Assuming the role of the team manager,
the player gets to lead the team on different championships, league games, and ultimately the World Cup. The game offers a unique feature which is the ability
for up to 4 players to play on one machine. In the game, the team manager gets a cabin of their own from where they can oversee anything.
The manager then gets to select a team from one of the well-known soccer clubs. The financials are presented next, and it is up to the manager to negotiate
a better deal if required. Next comes player selection where information about the players and every aspect of their performance is presented. The game is sure
to be a hit among soccer fans as it brings to light the psychological aspects and the lesser-known nuances of the game.
