Description
Pole Chudes: Capital Show is the video game version of a popular Russian game show that aired on TV in the early 90s.
Capital Show was inspired heavily by the ' Wheel of Fortune'. The video game version tries to simulate the gameshow most
realistically while enhancing it in a way that appeals to the digital audience. It was released in 1993 and runs on the DOS
platform. The game features 3 players at the same time, but only 2 can be controlled by humans. The other is controlled by the
computer and is represented by cartoons of famous Russian personalities. Contestants spin a large wheel divided into segments
with various monetary values, a bankrupt space, and a lose-a-turn space. Similar to "Wheel of Fortune," contestants must
solve word puzzles by guessing letters. The puzzles fall into various categories such as phrases, names, titles, and more.
The game consists of multiple rounds, with contestants competing to solve puzzles and accumulate the highest score. If the
guessed letter is in the puzzle, it gets revealed, and the player earns points or money. The rewards won by the contestants
are often too small and inconsequential adding to the humour. The graphics are typical of early 1990s PC games, featuring 2D
designs with colorful and engaging visuals to simulate the TV show's set. Sincere efforts were made by the creators of the game
to replicate the look and feel of the TV show, including the design of the wheel, puzzle board, and overall studio environment.
