Description
Prince is an action and strategy game, based on a War theme. It was released in 1989 and is available on DOS, Amiga, and Atari ST.
The game is set in medieval times where a kingdom falls into turmoil after the death of the King. A brutal war of succession breaks
out between the two heirs which can only end after one of them is dead. The game can be played against another player or
a computer-generated opponent. The players get to choose the island where the battle will take place and the size of their army.
This decision can play a key role in the outcome of the game since the battle could be affected by the terrain and weather
conditions. The player must eliminate the opponent or get killed. The armies are guided by a map of the area.
The players control their armies through a series of basic commands like turn, walk, trot, gallop, charge, etc.
The battle features traditional sword fights. The princes and the commanding officers follow the foot soldiers giving the
necessary instructions. While fighting the battles, the player must also ensure the corpses of the dead soldiers are removed
from the gaming field to avoid obstruction. The opposing armies are denoted in blue and red. The game features 2D graphics with
pixel art that does a decent enough job of representing the battlefield. The game can be paused at any time and the progress
can be saved to resume at a later time. It can be controlled using the mouse, and a null-modem cable would enable the players
to play the same game on two different computers.
