Description
Pro Cycling is a bicycle racing simulation that was released in 1998. The game was created and published by Spanish developers,
Digital Dreams Multimedia, and runs on the DOS platform. The game language is Spanish. Pro cycling combines the elements of race
cycling and team management to create a realistic simulation of the various aspects of professional cycling.
Players can participate in various cycling races, mimicking real-life professional cycling competitions. The players are allowed
to choose the racers based on their track record and purchase the bicycles to be used in the race. The players start the game with
a limited budget and must manage resources effectively to win. The game attempts to recreate realistic cycling mechanics, such as
drafting, energy management, and tactical decision-making during races. Players catch glimpses of the history of professional bike
racing in Spain and gain valuable insights into its contributions to the sports and fitness arenas. Players get an isometric view
of the gaming environment providing a clear view of the game's environment and spatial relationships between objects.
Although the graphics are two-dimensional, the isometric perspective creates a three-dimensional effect, enhancing the visual depth.
The visual presentation focuses on detailed racecourses, cyclists, and team management interfaces. The game includes sound effects that
enhance the racing experience, such as crowd noises, bike sounds, and possibly commentary or ambient music.
"Pro Cycling" contributed to the niche genre of cycling simulations, setting the stage for more advanced cycling games in the future.
As part of Digital Dreams Multimedia’s portfolio, the game represents their foray into sports simulations.
