REACH OUT FOR GOLD was released in 1993 in the United Kingdom. The game is set at the Olympics and has various games to choose from. The game was developed by Flair Software Ltd. and operates on the DOS platform. A year after it’s release on DOS, the game was also released on Amiga CD32 with a new title: Summer Olympix. To play the game, the player must compete in different tournaments at the Olympics. There are a total of 8 events the player can participate in. The activities range from swimming, boxing, kayaking, long jump, and Archery to running tournaments Javelin and skeet shooting. The tournaments vary in difficulty level, for example, Sprinting and swimming are considered fairly easy and can be completed with moderate effort while others such as Archery and Javelin require better hand-eye coordination and fast reflexes. Similar to Olympics standards, the player needs to perform well in the intermediate levels in order to qualify for further rounds. There are practice sessions available before the start of the levels to help the player perform better. The player can assume any name of their choice and choose to represent any country on the map. The visuals of the game change as per the tournament and activity. After each tournament, there is a professional photographer waiting to take a picture and also congratulate or wish you the best for future tournaments, based on the outcome of the level. The graphics and characters are designed with a cartoon theme which adds to the overall humorous feel of the game.
