Realm

Realm is an action video game with a Sci-Fi theme. It was released in several European nations including the United Kingdom in 1997. Developed by Flair Software Ltd., the game runs on the DOS platform and is considered one of the superior action games of the time. Realm is alternatively known as Alien Terminator.
Realm is set in a post-apocalyptic period where the earth is on the brink of destruction due to a devastating alien invasion. The invasion has left several people dead and cities have been razed to the ground. During these dark times, a cyborg emerges as the last ray of hope for saving the planet and reviving humanity. The cyborg that very much resembles a human in his looks must navigate through five levels of the game to defeat the aliens and restore the earth to its original form. Although it's easy to mistake the cyborg for an ordinary human, he possesses advanced equipment like lasers, plasma boomerangs, and heat missiles and is much more adept at using them than his human counterparts. The enemies are in the form of aliens that have taken shelter in the rough terrain and heavy vegetation and can spring upon the cyborg at any moment.
The player needs to always keep his weapons handy to safeguard himself from any covert attacks from these aliens. There are also bosses introduced at different stages who are much more difficult to defeat. Powerups are strewn across the levels which must be collected to maintain the supply of ammunition. There are also weapon upgrades and shields in the form of crystals that can temporarily protect the player from alien attacks.
