Description
Redcat is an action and adventure game developed and published by RedCat Software. The game was released in 1994 in the Netherlands.
It runs on the DOS platform. The player assumes the role of Redcat, who has been tasked with defeating an army of mice to retrieve
the stolen treasure. One is greeted by a large laughing mouse on the title screen. The player has a variety of arms at their disposal
to kill as many mice as possible, such as a sword, machine gun, bombs, and flamethrowers. As one progresses in the game, the size of
the mice becomes larger, and it becomes even more difficult to kill them. The player also needs to safeguard themselves from the various
traps like snake pits that have been set in their path. Apart from killing mice, the player also needs to collect money, extra time,
and treasures that have been placed along the way. There could also be ammunition. Scores are awarded for every mouse killed and extra
money that is collected. A fun feature in the game is a snippet of a local newspaper providing updates about the player's scores and
progress.
There are 10 levels in the game. The scores are displayed on the top of the screen, and the time and lives are displayed at
the bottom right corner. The game provides a side-view perspective. Redcat is the first game of the Redcat series. The latter games of
the series however had a very different theme and were mostly educational.
