Description
Ring Cycle is an action and adventure game set in a fantasy theme. It was developed by Maelstrom Games Ltd and released in 1996 in several European nations.
The game offers a unique feature where a player can choose between a first-person or a third-person perspective.
Ring cycle is based on Norse mythology and the famous German musical drama, Der Ring des Nibelungen. The player assumes the role of Siegmund, who is tasked with
collecting objects placed in a three-dimensional landscape. Other important characters in the game are Alberich the Dwarf and the Valkyrie, who Siegmund must
consult from time to time to find the whereabouts of the desired objects. There are also bonus objects the player must collect to maintain his health and strength.
There are several enemies along the way who Siegmund must defeat to proceed further on his quest. To defeat his enemies, the player also needs to look out for and
collect ammunition and bonus items along the way. The face-off with the enemies generally occurs through fireball duels. Losing to the enemies would mean Siegmund
would be resurrected and retreat to the start of the game, thus losing all the items collected thus far. The background graphics change from green pastures to
snow-covered terrain during the game. There are also dark dungeons in between. The soundtrack has been compiled using snippets of the original music of Der Ring
des Nibelungen, composed by Richard Wagner in the 19th century. It is a single-player game, and the game language is English.
