Sento is an action and adventure game based on a fantasy theme. Developed and published by 47-TEK, Inc.,the game was released in 1994 on the DOS platform. Sento can be played by up to 2 players.
As per the developers, Sento is a game where mighty-battle lords use their inner spirits and pit their greatest strength against each other in an age-old war between two Sento masters. The game is set in the fantasy land of Necrovania, where battles are on to decide who will be its next master.
The battle is between 4 main characters, each with a different kind of weapon- Battle axe, Katana sword, Sai, and Hammer. The characters challenge each other for one-on-one matches where they display their fighting skills and the power of their weapons. The player can make the characters jump, advance, retreat, defense, and attack. The game can be played by the keyboard and specific keys must be used for specific actions. The game’s controls are explained at the beginning.
The battles are held at midnight in a small area surrounded by deep trenches. Falling off the edge is a bigger possibility than being killed by the opponent.
Sento is known to be one of the earliest fighting games to introduce 3D Polygonal models, thus making the fighting scenes more realistic. Quick reflexes are of utmost importance in the game as a slight delay can get the character’s head cut off by the powerful weapons of the opponent. The last character to survive wins the battle and becomes the next lord of Necrovania.
