Description
Space Vegetables is an adventure game with a Sci-Fi theme. The game is alternatively known as The Space Vegetable Corps. It was released in 1992 on the DOS platform.
The game is set in 2040, several years in the future. The earth is now almost uninhabitable due to high levels of pollutants and toxins in the air. To ensure the survival
of mankind, humans are turning the planets and moons of the milky way into hydroponic greenhouses. The protagonist in the game is a maintenance engineer who has been posted
to the lunar research colony base. He has been working there for a year. At last, his tenure is complete and he can return to earth to get some much-needed rest.
However, there is a mix-up and he finds himself in an unknown planet. Before he can make sense of things, he is ejected from the spacecraft into the planet. He soon realizes
there is an alien race who is trying to destroy these greenhouses that humans are trying to create for their survival. With very little choice, The protagonist soon gets
enlisted into the Space vegetable corps, which is considered one of the worst jobs in the galaxy. His job is to shoot aliens and collect necessary vegetables to meet his
daily quota. Luckily, he has a jetpack to make the task a little easier. While eliminating the aliens, the player needs to ensure they aren’t killed too high above the surface
as it can damage the domes. Vegetables growing inside the dome can only be collected once they reach a certain height. The game comes to an end when the player’s oxygen levels
are exhausted, or all vegetables are destroyed.
