Description
Spyder is an action video game developed and published by Mirror Images Software, Inc. It was released in the United States in 1983 and ran on the DOS platform.
Spyder is an old-fashioned arcade shooter game. To play the game, the player needs to shoot those attacking from the top of the screen.
To kill the spider, the player is equipped with a laser beam. The player needs to use the laser judiciously to avoid running out. However, more ammunition magically
arrives once the reserves run low. Once a spider reaches the bottom, it starts moving toward the player. The player needs to kill the spider with the laser or squash
it with his foot before the spider can make contact. Once too many spiders reach the bottom, they form a web that becomes extremely difficult to escape.
Hence the player needs to move fast and eliminate as many spiders as possible as they make their way from the top to the bottom of the screen. There are 10 difficulty
levels in the game ranging from easy to intense to at your own risk. The difficulty level rises at each stage, making the later levels extremely challenging where the
spiders move too quickly. One needs to have quick reflexes to succeed at those levels. Points are awarded for killing each spider. The scores are displayed at the
screen's bottom left corner and the number of lasers available is displayed at the bottom right corner. The game alternates between two different CGA palettes each
time the player dies.
