StarBlade

StarBlade is an action video game with puzzle elements and a Sci-Fi theme. It was released in 1990 on the DOS platform but is also available on Amiga and Atari ST. The game was developed and published by Silmarils in collaboration with Boeder Software.
The game is set almost a thousand years in the future, in 3001. The vast population of the human race has been vastly diminished and reduced to small isolated groups confined to walled and secure colonies. The primary reason behind the present state of humans is the deadly insect race Cephalhydras. Even after causing such destruction, the Cephalhydras want to settle for nothing less than total and sole control of the earth and devise a sinister plot to eliminate the human race entirely from the face of the earth. To carry out this mission, they employ a highly skilled geneticist who creates a mutated queen with superior abilities and can breed an army of warriors with the same genetic modifications. This mutated queen called Genolyn needs to be stopped on all counts before she can spawn her army. The player takes control of Star blade, one of the most advanced spacecraft in the galaxy, and ventures out in search of Genolyn with the aim of foiling her plans before execution. The player will need to fight and defeat several enemies and navigate through a difficult terrain before he can get to Genolyn. The hero is wearing a spacesuit and is armed with a gun to fight off hordes of enemies that are always on his tail. There are also other weapons at his disposal like a laser sword.
