Description
Starball is a pinball game simulation released in 1996. It was developed by Volume 11 Software and runs on the DOS platform.
Starball tries to recreate an actual game of pinball but in outer space. It is a GameTek publication, who are known for their
unique takes on the humble game of pinball. Hence, it has several interesting twists like the presence of Aliens and Asteroids.
The player can take a break from the game to blow them up and earn bonus points. The game features a unique table, that’s split
into three parts. Each part of the table has a different kind of pinball bat, also known as a flipper.
The player must be careful to not drop the ball in between the flippers, in which case it will cost them a life. The games being
played in each part also vary in terms of the objective and have some unique characteristics. One of these objectives is to build
and protect a spaceship. The other two sections also have similar space-themed goals. Apart from the three stages, there are also
some hidden stages in the game, each with it’s own quirky version of pinball games. Out of these, the Llama stage is the most
secretive and difficult to get to. The other hidden stages include Doom pinball and Egg, which go a long way in keeping things
interesting and engaging to the player. Overall, Starball is a decent enough pinball game, with interesting gameplay.
However, what makes it stand apart is the sound quality of the game. There is a separate sound menu available with plenty of options.
Starball is also known as Warp Drive pinball.
